We have generally had a good experience with Down House and have never had any major issues with them until this recent incident. Our lease is coming up for renewal, and we had already informed their staff/our agent that we intend to renew. We were simply asking if there was any possibility of getting a discount on the rent. However, we received a phone call from someone named Mahmoud, who introduced himself as the manager of our apartment agency. He told me, “They said you don’t like the price, so can we receive the flat tomorrow?” I found this extremely inappropriate and upsetting. To me, it felt like another way of saying, “If you don’t accept the price, then leave the apartment.” What made it more frustrating is that we had already clearly communicated that we wanted to renew. We were only asking about the possibility of a better price, and we had even told their staff that we would come to the agency the following week to sign the contract for renewal. There was no reason to immediately ask us to hand over the apartment the next day, especially when we had never said that we wanted to leave. We have had no issues with Down House previously, and this review is specifically about the way this situation was handled and the way Mahmoud spoke to us. I hope management reviews this incident and understands that asking for a discount should not be treated as refusing to renew or as a reason to tell a long-term tenant to vacate immediately. I hope future communication with tenants is handled with more professionalism and respect.

I have been living in this villa for two years, and my experience has been good. The villa is newly built, well simple design, and has been a comfortable place to call home.
